Fall Perch Run Presque Isle Bay
Decided to try some Fall fishing in Presque Isle Bay. Water temp has been dropping with cooler nights and this triggers fish. Fall fishing can be fantastic. Fish gorge as they prepare for winter. Caught over 100 perch in 3 hours. One pole is all I could handle. A mix of sizes. Kept from 8 inch to a nice jumbo at 14. The bite was steady from first light till about 11:00am. Very eager fish. They often hooked themselves and had many doubles. Kept only fish that were fillet worthy. Very fast action.

Woodchuck Fever In PA Farm Fields
My son is hooked on Woodchuck hunting. Took him out for another evening trip. He blasted a young one at 47 yds with one shot of his Savage .17 HMR. Right through the head! Didn't take a step from the hole. Just the face was learking from the hole and my son nailed him. Great sport to get kids interested in markmanship and hunting!

Woodchuck Hunting In Erie County PA
Took my son out tonight for his first woodchuck hunting trip. We set up in a field in North East PA. Waited about an hour and saw a nice chuck about 60 yards away. My son used a .17 Savage HMR. Great shot through the head and exploding the
skull plate. Dead on impact! He was very excited, as I was, for his first chuck kill. Very proud of him. Woodchuck hunting in PA can be a fun sport. You need a flat shooting rifle(I recommend the .17HMR)and a nice pair of binoculars. I also like using a Laser Rangefinder to get accurate distance on long shots. Be patient and set up quietly on the edge of a field. Well placed shots to the head or chest really do the trick. He was so excited and now wants to head out to the field agian!

Softshell Turtle Caught Off South Pier In Erie PA
Today I went to the pier to fish with my children. We caught several sheepshead, bluegills, and silverbass. Interestingly, my pole almost went in the water as I had a hard bite. Reeled in a large softshell turtle. I very carefully cut the line and released unharmed. Was an amazing sight. Largest size softshell I have ever seen. barely fit in my net.
Made the day of a lazy summer fishing trip.
