Late Ice Perch Off Chestnut

Went out today chasing perch off chestnut street launch. Might be last ice. Thickness was 4 inches, just after a warm up with rain. Caught about 50 perch, kept 15. Also caught a trout and a smelt. Was way out there, in the line of the channel. Doesn't look like the ice will hold much longer.

Slow Bite For Perch On Windy Morning

Headed to the Bay early for some perch fishing. Fished from daybreak till noon, only 4 perch. Very slow bite. Windy, making it difficult to move. Ice 10 inches hard ice, with 3 inches of slush. Starting to slow down in the Bay.

Nice Size Perch On lake Erie Ice

Went out today in the main channel off the foot of Dobbins Landing. About 20 huts braved fierce winds and heavy snow. Total whiteout while setting up. Thickness of ice was about 3 inches, fished in 24 ft of water. We were the hut farthest out from the pack. Slow bite, but became steady by late morning. Managed about 9 keepers. A few fish were slabs. Nice fresh lakers about 13 and 14 inches. Hope we keep the cold weather to build ice.

First Ice Lands Several Lake Erie Perch

Went ice fishing for the first time of the year. Early ice this season. Was a bit sketchy, first hole 3 inches. Headed off the public dock. North east winds 15-20 made it very frigid. Perch were turned on though, landed about 40 fish. Kept 12. Lots of young fish. Great action for the opener.

Quail And Pheasants On Action Filled Day In PA

Treated myself to a nice hunt south of Erie on a Game Bird Farm. Released 20 quail and 4 pheasants. Ended up with 18 quail and 4 pheasants in about 3 hours. Some really fast furious shooting behind a well trained bird dog. Lots of meat for the freezer. Wish all days could be this wild.

Nice Ringneck Pheasants On State Game Lands

Beautiful day to be out in the woods. Started pushing thickets at 6:00 taday. Ran up and down rows until 4:00. Found two big ones today in the afternoon. Did not see a bird for 8 hours. Then two ringnecks went up. Two shots with my double barrel and now I have Thanksgiving dinner. Nice.

Pheasants And Grouse In Warren County PA

Went to Warren PA gamelands for some upland bird hunting. Pushed fields, thickets, and brush for nearly 9 hours. Managed three flushes, downing two hen pheasants and a grouse. More nice birds for the table.
